Elevator Sump Oil Alarm System Specifications

System Overview

The Elevator Sump Oil Alarm System uses a Patented Dual Probe Capacitance Switch to differentiate between water and oil by measuring the dielectric of the medium at the sensor.

Controller Features:

  • Solid-state with NEMA 4X enclosure (suitable for elevator pit mounting).

  • High-liquid audible alarm.

  • Optional dry N.O. or N.C. contact for remote monitoring.

  • UL Listed #508A Type L, File #E187669.

Pump Features:

  • Oil-filled, hermetically sealed.

  • Automatic reset & thermal overload protection.

  • UL Listed #778 and CSA #108.

Installation:

  • Fully assembled, pre-calibrated, and tested before shipping.

  • Includes check valve and mounting hardware.

How to Choose the Correct System

Application Head Feet Part Number
Single elevator ≤19’ ESA 50/100
Single elevator 19’–35’ ESA 100/100
2 elevators (duplex) ≤17’ ESA 50/100HF
2 elevators (duplex) 14’6”–25’6” ESA 100/100HF
3 elevators (triplex) ≤14’6” ESA 100/100HF

ESA 50/100

  • Pump: ½ HP

  • Application: Single elevator, up to 19’ head feet.

  • Flow Rate: 3,000 GPH (meets ASME A17.1-2007 code for one elevator).

  • Sump Pit Requirements:

    • Minimum 16″ diameter × 18″ depth (24″ ideal).

    • Poured-in-place: 16″ × 16″ × 18″–24″ deep to 24″ × 24″ × 24″ deep.

  • Operation:

    • Pump activates at 10″ water, stops at 4″.

    • Oil detection at 10″ triggers alarm (pump disabled).

    • High liquid alarm at 14″ (audible + optional remote contact).

ESA 100/100

  • Pump: ¾ HP

  • Application: Single elevator, 19’–35’ head feet.

  • Flow Rate: 3,000 GPH (meets ASME A17.1-2007 code for one elevator).

  • Sump Pit Requirements: Same as ESA 50/100.

  • Operation: Same as ESA 50/100.

ESA 50/100HF (Duplex System)

  • Pump: ¾ HP

  • Application: 2 elevators (duplex) in same shaft.

    • Up to 17’ head feet (or 15’–25’6″ for ESA 100/100HF).

  • Flow Rate: 6,000 GPH at 15’ head feet (meets code for 2 elevators).

  • Sump Pit Requirements:

    • Minimum 18″ diameter × 24″ depth (24″ × 24″ × 24″ ideal).

  • Operation:

    • Pump activates at 16″ water, stops at 10″.

    • Oil detection at 16″ triggers alarm (pump disabled).

    • High liquid alarm at 18″ (audible + optional remote contact).

ESA 100/100HF (Triplex System)

  • Pump: 1 HP

  • Application:

    • 3 elevators (triplex) in same shaft (up to 14’6″ head feet).

    • 2 elevators (duplex) with 14’6″–25’6″ head feet.

  • Flow Rate: 9,000 GPH at 14’6″ head feet (meets code for 3 elevators).

  • Sump Pit Requirements: Same as ESA 50/100HF.

  • Operation: Same as ESA 50/100HF.

  • Cut Sheet Link: [Insert Link Here]

Sequence of Operation

  • Water detected: Pump activates at specified level, deactivates at lower threshold.

  • Oil detected: Alarm triggers, pump disabled.

  • High liquid level (oil/water): Audible alarm + optional remote signal.

Notes:

  • All systems include check valve and mounting hardware.

  • Pumps are hermetically sealed and thermal overload protected.
